Tell us about yourself and your music

Described throughout my career as the little girl with a big voice, I love Country music and have entertained audiences in the United States, Europe and Asia sharing the stage with Darius Rucker, Collin Raye, Diamond Rio, Neal McCoy and many more. My first live performance was for a crowd of 2,000 when I was 3 years old. I began recording professionally at age 6 when I sang the theme song for an educational film. From there, I recorded children’s albums, traveled with a dance company and made music a part of my life every day.

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love a good story, and Country music is filled with stories. My music is a fusion of traditional Country elements mixed with a modern vibe. Whether I’m singing for a stadium crowd or an intimate house concert setting, my love for music shines through.

Talk to us more about your latest release

My newest EP, Sparks Will Fly, is compiled of 6 compelling songs ranging from a tongue-in-cheek spin on dating life (“Sparks Will Fly”) to following your heart (“No Better Time”) and having the courage to love what matters most (“Take Me Back”). The EP sparked attention in the USA and caught fire in Europe, resulting in two big wins at the Hotdisc Country Music Awards this year. I was honored to win the New Horizon Award for Most Successful International Newcomer and Best International Single for my song, “Sparks Will Fly.”

My first single released to Country radio, “Sparks Will Fly,” debuted at #1 in Europe and stayed there for 6 weeks straight. My second single, “No Better Time,” released in the USA and quickly became a fan favorite, claiming the #1 spot on a popular Country music chart voted on by the fans. I’m so grateful for each and every one of my fans, friends and my wonderful family. I couldn’t have done any of this without them. Their support means the world to me.

What inspired you to write this release?

After completing a successful Kickstarter, surpassing my initial goal at 125%, I left the mountains of Utah and headed for the hills of Tennessee joining forces with a talented team of writers, producers and musicians to create my EP, Sparks Will Fly.

The title track, “Sparks Will Fly,” is a tongue-in-cheek spin on the dating world. I wrote it about the dream of taking the best part of one person and the best part of another person, and combining those traits to make a perfect love match for yourself. The song has resonated with listeners and DJs, who voted it as the most popular song to hit the Hotdisc Country Charts in 2016.

“No Better Time,” was the second single released to Country radio, and I wrote this song about how a little kindness goes a long way. I was in the grocery store after a rough day when a bright-eyed Grandma came walking toward me. She smiled and said “hello.” It forced me to smile and say “hello” back to her. The positive energy she exuded was contagious. I went down the next aisle and said “hello” to someone else to help brighten their day. The concept of sharing a small act of kindness was happening in real-time, so I decided to write a song about it. The reaction to the song has been great, and it’s a fun one to perform live.

My next single to be released is called, “Sugar Fix.” I wrote that song about loving someone so much, you just can’t get enough. Each song on the EP was written straight from my heart. I’ve been thrilled with the positive response from listeners and DJs in the USA and Europe.

Any plans to release a video?

Yes, I released a music video for “Sparks Will Fly,” which was a blast to shoot, and I’m excited for the release of my next music video for “Sugar Fix.” It’s filled with bright colors, tasty treats, kids, cartwheels, dancing, rodeo grounds and Utah’s majestic mountains.

Any plans to hit the road?

I’ve got several corporate and private shows booked right now. New public dates will be posted on my website (www.BrendaBurch.com). I’ve been talking to DJs in London, the U.K., Germany, Belgium, Ireland and France and hope to do some shows in Europe soon.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

I believe in authenticity, and each song on my EP, Sparks Will Fly, is written from an authentic place. We let my western roots shine through while fusing traditional elements with a modern vibe. I love the beautiful steel guitar on “My World” and the quirky sound on “Take Me Back.” The western guitar on “Old Things” and “Sparks Will Fly” brings that true Country feel into the mix. We aimed to write catchy tunes with straight-shooting, cleverly crafted, self-empowering lyrics and melodies with the hope of resonating with listeners far and wide.

Who have you been listening to lately?

There are so many amazing artists out there. Lately, I’ve been listening to Chris Stapleton, Brothers Osborne, Cam, Carly Pearce, Elle King and Billy Currington.

Tell us about your passions

Music is a huge passion of mine. I also love horses, golf, tennis, movies and hiking the beautiful mountains of Utah.

What else is happening next in your world?

I’ll be promoting my EP, Sparks Will Fly with new singles and music videos to be released in the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe throughout the year. I plan to keep writing and creating new music, doing shows and shooting music videos. Stay tuned…
