Tell us about yourself and your music

King Lewis & Jamar: A Christian rap group who are looking to help and encourage the youth, all while having fun and praising God. King Lewis & Jamar are the two youngest brothers of a family of seven, six boys and one girl. Their dad who was a preacher passed when they were young and their mother just passed recently. Born in Las Cruces, New Mexico and raised in Houston, TX. King Lewis (Marcus Lewis) is 26 years old and Jamar (Timothy Lewis) is 31 years old. They pray their music reaches all areas of the world so that the people listening may be inspired and touched.

Talk to us more about your latest release

Their latest release is called Temptation, this song talks about all of the things in life many people face and are tempted in doing. Many people are going to relate with this song because many of us have our personal problems we face, this song talks about it all and also tells you how to overcome most of these temptations we fight. Definitely a lyrical song that many people will play over and over and full feel and understand the message behind this beautiful and well put together song.

What inspired you to write this release?

We all face situations in life that we may be tempted to do, which could lead to something bad or maybe even something good. We feel this was the perfect song to relate with things we all face and at the same time give everyone ways on how to over come temptation. This is one of those songs where we hope it reaches and touches millions of people to the point where everyone is hungry to hear what’s we have in store next.

Describe the writing and recording process

When Jamar made the beat we knew instantly this had to be a song people can relate too, hearing the beat we instantly knew what to write and things were just flowing so smoothly. Getting in the studio making tweaks to the beat and making everything sound so much better just made the recording process a memorable moment. With everything clicking, singing into the mic just brought out so much passion for creating such a beautiful song.

Any plans to release a video?

Any plans to hit the road?

As of now no tours right now for us, we are currently finishing our first album and from there we plan on promoting and having free concerts at churches, prisons, schools, and anywhere else we can perform. We definitely want to get our name out and then watch the blessings come in as far as labels, touring, etc.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

Any music we put out we will always show our family and closest friends first, once we know they love it we put our music out on many platforms and then use our social media to help promote. We do our best to try and be different and stand out, so what other best way to do that? We just are real with ourselves and stick to the style of music we love to make and put out for everyone.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Everyone in the Christian Hip Hop community, some of our favorite artists such as Lecrae, Andy Mineo, KB, Austin Lanier, Derek Minor, GAWVI, and many more artists.

Who are your biggest influences?

Lecrae: is like the Jay-Z to the Christian hip-hop community, he’s the one who brought the light to Christian Hip-hop.

Tre9: is the one who showed us the ministry of giving back to the community and to the ones locked up and wants to be connected to God. He showed us and let us join in on his movement.

Austin Lanier: is one of the guys who influence us by meeting him and a logic concert. He showed us his way of hustling and getting his name out by promoting himself and what really got us is that he prayed with us and got us connected with Tre9 who helped us, minister, to the community.

Tell us about your passions

Our passion is to just reach millions of people, perform on some of the biggest stages and feel that love and energy. There is nothing more exciting than being in an environment where thousands come together and praise God.

What else is happening next in your world?

Currently finishing the album and making more music videos, we want to work with more artists and perform in more places. While getting our name out there help as many people as we can and stay putting out more music, videos, and Charity events.
