An Interview W/ The Unicorn

An Interview W/ The Unicorn

Tell us about yourself and your music

Well, I recently just changed my name to JORDY HARDY because I felt that would be the name I go within the industry with a household name. Give my artistry a different aspect. I’m a unicorn from Phoenix, AZ that makes a variety of genres in the music field, I am also heavy into fashion, acting modeling, and philanthropy from time to time. My style is really unique, enigmatic, & different, I think once I make it, the people will really rock with that. I grew up playing basketball and was going to attend college to continue being a student-athlete but God had other plans for me. I’m social when needed but very laid back and to myself, I’m an extrovert/introvert so I think its a good balance and one of my many superpowers.

Talk to us more about your latest release

I just released a freestyle on Soundcloud for rebranding called Twist Of Fate. Nothing insane just some bars and honesty from the heart. Currently right now getting together records for the next year. I have big plans. Less drops more impact and strategic thinking but I got some great records for the top of the year.

What inspired you to write this release?

Just to top off the year correctly and be honest on wax. I rewrote this song like 5 times. I wanted to go out with a bang and say my peace about things as I close a chapter and open a new one. Really excited for this next section of my life. Being in a different headspace I think the music is going to flourish to its truest form.

Describe the writing and recording process

I write all day and night. I probably have up to 3,000 pages of writing material saved on my phone. I just try to be as honest and witty as possible in my art. Sometimes I have really slow days and can’t write anything, other days I can write 10 full songs. I try to be unique in my writing and not just say anything to fill space, every line means something and isn’t something I’ve said before. Just something that’s real and authentic that’ll stand the test of time and age like wine. The recording is different, I don’t really like studios or too many people in there. Only people that are adding to the vibe, I’m not into the extras. Like I said I’m really to myself so I want quiet and peace, just me and the engineer preferably and some cartoons, visuals, or a movie going on in the background. Women will suffice too if you listen there’s this constant storyline in my music of Jordy & women, so they tell their own story being present. Sound off though if we are watching something, R.I.P Mac. I also will redo a take 100 times. I don’t care how anyone feels, we are going to sit here till I get it right. I hate that I’m a perfectionist, but name one genius that isn’t crazy?

Any plans to release a video?

Any plans to hit the road?

I plan on going on tour very soon. I do that & I think everything will change for me. I need to expand my audience because I have so many different sounds that fall under my main that people attach too. I think I have a sound that’s very refreshing and will be a breath of fresh air to the world. It makes them feel vulnerable and if I can get your heart and soul live, I’ll be immortal. Live is how you win forever and thankfully God gave me an amazing stage presence and aura,  shoutout Jesus for my energy. Just looking for the right opportunity and doors to open. I was just put here to do the work, make the calls, effort, and let God do the rest. Touring for sure in the next year is one of my big ones. As well as going platinum off a big record. The money will come… I’m here for the longevity and having groundbreaking moments that fuel my career. Those are them.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

Personally, it’s by being me as much as I can. Of course, I’m playing a character when I’m on stage or in public but I’m honestly just being myself. I try to make statements with clothes that I wear, things I say, anything I post or do because people pay attention, even if it’s in private. It has to be strategic/analytical and I think that’s how I’ve formed the little cult that I have and have gained my little attention now. It’s real, raw, and personal everything I say or do I have done. Very genuine, honest, but confident. People take to that and use that in their everyday lives. Become there superhero. I live by that.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Cigarettes After Sex, Lana Del Rey, The Weeknd, Pink Floyd, Frank Ocean, Uzi, Carti, Roy Ayers, Drake, Post Malone, Myself, Ari Lennox, Summer Walker, Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Kenny Rodgers, Amy Winehouse, Harry Styles, Miguel, PND, Tame Impala, Future, & Jacques Webster. There’s more but I think you’ll see the inspiration.

Who are your biggest influences?

My mom, my grandparents, my family as a whole to be honest. Jeff Hardy, Britney Griner, Anne Hathaway, Denzel Washington, Kurt Cobain, Charlie Sheen, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kanye, Weezy F Baby, MF Doom, Chris Brown, LeBron, Jesus Christ, Tom Cruise, Kobe, Cristiano Ronaldo, Batman, Joker, Robert Downey Jr., Johnny Cash, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake & Bieber, Edgar Allen Poe, Jim Carrey Steve Jobs, Swaggy P, Rick Owens, Pharrell, Cam’ron. Honestly anything artistic and I’m missing a lot of people but that’s a great amount.

Tell us about your passions

I love people. I love giving back. I want to be a mogul. Music is just to get my foot in the door but I want to change lives. The way we think, live and breathe. I’m very passionate about whatever has my heart, even though I am a man of God I love evolution and becoming more than you ever thought you could be. So whatever I’m talking about I’m very passionate towards.

What else is happening next in your world?

I am prepping to release new music under my new alias at the top of the year so stay tuned for that. That’ll also come with a new video and new music following that. I am also set to release merch, do shows, and expand my brand with some interesting marketing tools. I want to get into some more acting and fashion but I think that’ll come as my career progresses. JORDY HARDY will be a household name in 2020! Thank You, Guys!
