Alex Butler: Up and Coming Country Artist
Tell us about yourself and your music
I grew up in a small town called Olive Branch, MS. I’ve been singing pretty much my entire life, but I didn’t really start pursuing it as a career until I was in college. Ever since that time I’ve been on a steady climb. To take my writing, performances, and overall showmanship to the next level. I like to think my music is 90s country lyrics but has a sound of today’s country music. I like to bridge that gap as much as I can.
Talk to us more about your latest release
I’m working on my latest single called “Party Starts Here” which will be coming out hopefully in early March. It’s being produced by Zach Swon of the Country duo group The Swon Brother. My latest EP “Still the Same” released last May just hit 200K total streams on Spotify which is exciting.
What inspired you to write this release?
I just love getting my music out there and letting people know my story and why I love what I do. And the reason I do the things that I do.
Describe the writing and recording process
The writing and recording is pretty easy and painless when you have an idea of what you want, how you want it to sound, and the overall story of your song. All of my songs are written from circumstances in my life, and that’s always really cool for me to open up about experiences and show them to the world and maybe connect with people about it.

Any plans to hit the road?
I’m always on the road touring and getting my music out there, it’s one of the things I love about this life, I and the band usually play in multiple cities and states each month. January we’re playing in Mineral Wells, TX. Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Raleigh, NC. Myrtle Beach, SC, and Charlotte, NC.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I always try to write in a way that’s easy to interpret and to just connect with people on a deeper level through music. I just try to put on the best show possible, I’m not cocky by any means. But once I step onto the stage my mindset is “no one is better than me when the lights come on”
Who have you been listening to lately?
I’ve been listening to a lot of lesser-known 90s country artists, some Indie country artists, and a lot of 80s hair metal.
Who are your biggest influences?
Some of my biggest influences are: Daughtry, Tracy Lawrence, Goo Goo Dolls, Neal McCoy, Clay Walker, and the biggest influence of all is Bryan White.
Tell us about your passions
Working out, being outside, songwriting, drawing/painting, being active
What else is happening next in your world?
Like I stated earlier I’m back in the studio now recording my next single called “Party Starts Here” I spent a lot of time on this song. And it’s just a real feel-good song that you can blare on the weekends and forget about your troubles and worries for a while.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Alex Butler
