Artist Interview: Sonic Prophecy

Tell us about yourself and your music

I am a guitarist and songwriter. Our music is a mix of traditional metal and power metal. We are influenced by a lot of different bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Hammerfall, Kings X, etc…

Talk to us more about your latest release

Apocalyptic Promenade is our second full length record and was released in March 2015 via Maple Metal Records. We went all out and did a full symphonic metal record with lots of orchestration. The opening track is over 10 minutes long and has been well received. We did some regional touring, but tour was cut short due to circumstances beyond our control including some lineup changes. We are just finishing up our third record and hopefully it will be released sometime in 2017 and we plan to do more extensive touring for this album.

 

What inspired you to write this release?

Shane (vocalist) already had written “The Fist of God” lyrics before I was even in the band and had tried to write the song with previous members, but never liked the finished product. When we sat down to write it the riffs just came naturally to me. Shane and I have really good writing chemistry.

Any plans to release a video?

We released a lyric video for “The Warriors Heart” when the album was released. We plan to do a live action video for a track off our next release.

 

 

Any plans to hit the road?

Right now we are finishing the new album and plan to do some more touring once it is released.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

That is a really tough one. The market is so flooded with bands that it is really difficult. We are always trying new strategies for marketing.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Actually mostly the mixes of the new record making sure everything is just right.

Tell us about your passions

I love the outdoors. I am an avid mountain biker and I love to fish. I love to cook as well.

What else is happening next in your world?

I recently started doing online guitar instructional videos for this company called GuitarControl.com along with the private guitar lessons I teach weekly.
