North Bay Band Releases Fan Funded Album To A Worldwide Audience
Ryan Problems and The Solutions debut album, Please Stop Cryin’ is
available worldwide on iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp and over 100 other
digital retailers. The CD will also be available for ordering on
Amazon.ca and in HMV stores across Canada.
“The
release and distribution of this record has been entirely fan funded.
Every dollar came from t-shirt sales, beer cozies and playing shows in
Northern Ontario. So anyone who has been to one of our shows in the last
year or bought any of our merch is to thank for the release of this
record.” said guitarist and harmonica player, Ryan Problems.
The album was written, recorded and mixed entirely in North Bay. The recording was done by local engineer, Jon (Remo) Baldwin along with the band. The tracks were then mixed and mastered by Ben Legget, a Juno nominated local freelance record producer. The album hit online retailers and select record stores July 21st, 2013.

The band is made up of three string instruments, guitar, upright bass and mandolin. The songs have a rock and roll aesthetic and being played on traditional instruments gives them a unique brand of high energy folk rock.
About The Band
Ryan Problems and The Solutions are an all string band that plays their own brand of frantic upbeat folk rock. Their music draws influences from blues, rockabilly, country and punk rock. Living in a city with a very large divide between venues for bar bands and underground music, The Solutions strive to create a sound that could fit in at punk and indie shows as well as farmer’s markets and front porches.
Ryan Problems & The Solutions started out when mandolin player Mike Favretto, teamed up with Ryan to write and record “music that their moms could listen to”. They ended up becoming Ryan’s main outlet for songwriting. As they continued to play more and more they chose to bring in Jonesy Knoxville and his upright bass to fill in the sound. Their music is comparable to Flogging Molly, The Pogues, Trampled By Turtles. Energetic and catchy, hook ridden songs played on traditional instruments, using only the acoustic ambiance for rhythm.
