Under the Jazz Influence with Michael Winkle
An original voice with a storied career is making a splash throughout the Pacific Northwest jazz scene, as Michael Winkle continues get crowds on their feet and singing along with delight during each and every performance. With two successful albums of covers and original jazz/swing tunes under his belt and his third release, Under the Influence in production, now is the time to shine for this fixture on the Portland music scene.
Known for his years as lead vocalist and bassist for one of Portland’s premier variety bands, Pressure Point, Winkle has been branching out into the world of jazz for over a decade. While performing with some of the most recognizable musicians in the local scene, he showcases a wonderful singing voice reminiscent of legends such as Chet Baker, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Bobby Caldwell, Sam Cook and others.
Under the Influence is targeted at paying homage to Winkle’s diverse musical inspirations, allowing him to continue to explore the sounds and feelings which have played a critical part throughout his musical journey.
