Purr Gato to Unleash Debut Album 'Heart Beat'

Purr Gato’s maiden release Heart Beat is an 11-track mélange of smartly crafted modern music that draws from a distinct range of influences – post-punk 70’s, British synthpop of the 80’s and downbeat club of the 90’s – and redefines them for the contemporary listener.  This fiery four-piece group is going to unleash their debut album on June 14, 2013, at Seattle’s Columbia City Theater.

Four worlds collide.  Founded in 2010 by veteran jazz and funk vocalist/composer Katrina Kope (lead singer, primary songwriter and keytar/synth player), along with former new-wave guitarist and trip-hop beat maker Tyler Kope (on synths and percussion), Purr Gato emits an attractive, yet occasionally ominous brand of Dark-Wave-Electro-Clash, combining a wild selection of musical influences to generate their trademark style.  Sometime described as, “if Depeche Mode, The Knife, and Zero 7 had a baby.”

After solidifying their lineup, with classical and jazz musician Brittany Kohl (on synths and backing vocals) as well as master flamenco percussionist and rock drummer David Levin (on drums and percussion), Purr Gato started hitting the Seattle clubs in April 2012.  After a string of performances at venues such as Neumos, The Crocodile, Nectar Lounge, The High Dive, The Hard Rock Café and more, they ventured into Electrokitty Studios to record their debut album, engineered and produced by Gary Reynolds, in December 2012.

Now ready to see the light of day, Heart Beat is the carefully sculpted culmination Purr Gato’s diverse members, signaling a new chapter for these veteran story tellers.  Seattle’s Columbia City Theater will host the record release on Friday, June 14, featuring supporting bands Thrivealike and Richie Aldente.  Tickets are available at the door, or online here http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/382721

Keep your ears peeled for the remix album of Heart Beat, to be released later in 2013, as they are collaborating with MCs, producers, and DJs from a wide collection of musical genres.  Tour plans are secretly underway, and a music video for the title track, “Heart Beat” is slated for release soon.
