Cash the Pope Prepares to Launch Debut Mixtape
Independent, American and 100 percent original, Spartanburg, South Carolina’s own Cash the Pope is set to blow with the upcoming release of his debut mixtape, The DEFecation. Now back in the studio to work on his next release, this artist is poised to make the leap from underground rapper to hip hop phenomenon.
Originally taking on writing and rhyming as a hobby, Cash the Pope recommitted to his passion after landing in prison for a shooting incident from 2008-11. Heavily influenced by rap legends Tupac and Ol’ Dirty Bastard, as well as Malcom X, he dove headfirst into music, beginning to write, record and sharpen his skills to a razor sharp edge. He teamed up with fellow artist and producer Doughboi in 2012 for a collaborative mixtape, The Playoffs, hosted by DJ Cannon Banyon and appearing on DatPiff.com, earning the Silver Trophy after reaching over 50,000 downloads.
With Doughboi landing in prison for a 5-year sentence in late 2012, Cash the Pope was left to forge ahead on his own, hunting for new up and coming producers. A pair of singles are already heating up on digital radio stations such as Jango and Spotify while increasing his digital presence on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and other online stores around the world. “Big Body Beamer” (produced by GTBeatz) and “Get Straight” both continue to draw listeners from around the country as he prepares to drop the next fiery rhyme in a growing arsenal of hypnotic hip hop beats.
Despite being a newcomer to the game, Cash the Pope is already demonstrating a level of dedication, skill and swagger designed to catch the attention of fellow artists, producers and industry reps from coast to coast. With an undeniably feverish work ethic and a true love for music, he’s poised to leave a permanent mark on the landscape of independent hip hop.
