Chicago’s Knowledge Readies Hip Hop Mixtape 'The Come Up'

“Never, ever, ever stop,” thumps from the speakers while listening to John Shahwan’s latest blast of fiery hip hop, decreeing himself as one of the latest up and coming challengers to the Windy City’s underground throne. Backed by thumping club beats and driven by his trademark impeccable flow, each song hums with an addictive glow, steeped in equal parts smoky haze and the flavor of the Chicago streets. Now set to drop his hottest mixtape yet, Shahwan (or Knowledge as he’s known on stage) is ready to make his mark on the game with the anticipated arrival of The Come Up.

Growing up on hip hop legends of the past and present (2Pac, Young Jeezy, T.I, Drake, Eminem and more), Knowledge immediately took to freestyling, sharpening his skills while slowly building an arsenal of original rhymes. He hit the stage for underground battles at Chicago’s Subterranean, eventually releasing a mixtape and landing radio airplay on the city’s hottest hip hop stations, 107.5 WGCI and Power 92.3.
Full of heart, driven by his family and inspired by the city streets, Knowledge spins a versatile web of hip hop flavor on his latest tracks featured on The Come Up, due out this spring. Chockfull of hard-hitting, club-rumbling hits, the mixtape will serve as the ideal precursor to his forthcoming full-length record, allowing the passionate rapper creative space to experiment and write the next hip hop anthem.
Led by tracks such as “Bump nd Grind,” “Drop it to tha Floor” and “Never Stop,” The Comp Up is Knowledge’s signal to the Chicago music community – batten down the hatches and get ready, because this lyricist is here to stay.
Tracks off The Come Up are available to stream via SoundCloud and YouTube, with more pictures and audio up on his official ArtistPR website. Connect via Facebook or Twitter for all the latest news and local Chicagoland performances, but keep your eyes peeled forthe mixtape’s release this spring.
