Saxophonist Rodrigo Santic Releases Original Jazz Fusion Work

Cyclos, the first solo album of original contemporary jazz compositions by Chilean musician Rodrigo Santic, is now available. The seven track work showcases Santic on the saxophone, at the helm of a quintet combining samba, funk, drum and bass, bebop and songo to create an innovative sound.

Rodrigo Santic Santic’s musical versatility is evident in his previous works as well. While studying at the University of Chile’s Music Conservatory, he was part of the Cuarteto de Saxofones Villafruela. The sax quartet released “Saxofones en Latinoamérica” a repertoire of Latin American music and “Saxofón en Concierto, Compositores Chilenos 1988-1998,” featuring contemporary works by Chilean composers. Santic also played with Chilean alternative rock band Lucybell during the XLIV Festival Internacional de la Canción de Viña del Mar and for the musical score featured in the short film “Miradas del pasado.” He performed with various orchestras, including Juvenil de Santiago, National Youth Symphony, Symphony of Chile and the Santiago Philharmonic. In the San Francisco Bay area, he has performed with the Cuarteto Latinoamericano de Saxofones at the Mission Cultural Center, Community Music Center and Anna’s Jazz Island; with various musicians at La Peña Cultural Center; and with Quijeremá at the Mill Valley Film Festival. He’s also performed with several jazz, salsa and merengue bands from the Bay area and New York.

Cyclos, his album, is available for digital and/or CD purchase through iTunes, bandcamp.com, cdbaby.com, Spotify, amazon.com and Verizon music.

KPOO’s Andanzas recently featured music from Cyclos and an interview with Santic. Radio Chile Lindo also featured Santic ahead of his CD release party.
