Venture into the Depths of Stiletto Ghetto
Conceived in San Francisco by a pair of like-minded musicians with a
flair for experimental, genre-defying songwriting comes Stiletto Ghetto,
roaring out of the West coast and spreading their brand of classic rock
from California to New York. Influenced by everything from Aretha
Franklin to Guns N’ Roses, the group painstakingly crafts songs with a
refreshing vibe while combining their collective inspiration into a
distilled, potent rock potion. Now coming off the success of their debut
EP, Tendernob Hillbillies, they’re hitting the studio to record and produce the next step in their budding young careers.
Founded in high school by Louis Raphael (drums, producer) and Nicolas Vesin (lead guitars, songwriter), the sonic tag team employs a rotating cast of backing musicians and vocalists to finish out their live and studio lineups. Capable of playing everything from drums and percussion to horns and keys, the pair handles everything including writing and producing their music, ensuring the final product is truly their own. Chock-full of scintillating guitar solos laid on a rock-solid drumming foundation and topped off by powerful female vocals, the Stiletto Ghetto sound rattles the listener to their very core during each and every song.
By 2011, Raphael and Vesin’s project caught the ear of guitar legend Steve Vai and landed on his Digital Nations label, releasing Tendernob Hillbillies the same year. Featuring 6 prime cuts of Stiletto Ghetto’s unmistakable 80s-influenced funky rock, word quickly spread throughout Northern California, earning them a spot on the main stage alongside Linda Perry and Sandra Bernhard during the 2011 San Francisco Pride Parade in front of 100,000 attendees.
“San Francisco is a melting pot of people, cultures and music so it comes as no surprise that the band Stiletto Ghetto is a reflection of that eclectic city. They combine rock, funk and soul to make their own unique brand of fiery sounds that is so loud, funky and irresistible it would make the most casual listener stand up and take notice. It was not hard choosing them as our featured artist,” said Keith Hannaleck of MusikReviews.com.
Having officially caught the music industry’s eye, tracks were licensed for two independent movies, including a film directed by Josefina Lopez, author of the acclaimed Real Women Have Curves. They also appeared on a number of 80s tribute records, released by Versailles records, alongside historic acts such as Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, Slash’s Snakepit and many more.
