R-dot-P - The Midwest's Last Hope
It has been said that while New York invented hip-hop, the Midwest
has perfected it. A strong case can be made for that argument; one
simply needs to point to the likes of Common, Eminem, Kanye West, Lupe
Fiasco, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Tech N9ne, or even Nelly to make his case
about the impact this region has made. However, nowadays, several new
artists have diluted that sound, leaving fans worried whether anyone
would truly emerge who would put the Midwest on his back and show
hip-hop that his region's still strong as ever. Worry no more fans, that
artist is here, and he goes by the name of R-dot-P.
Born and
raised in the city of Racine, Wisconsin (between Milwaukee and Chicago),
R-dot grew up listening to some of the best hip-hop had to offer during
his youth, singling out Jay-Z, Nas, and AZ as some of his personal
favorites. Eventually, R-dot would meet two fellow aficionados from his
city-these two, going by the names of Frosty and Lucky Streetz, would
team up with him to form their own group, Just Us Ent. Signing a
distribution deal with comedian TP Lucas' 3-MC Entertainment, the trio
released their debut mixalbum "Original Law" in the summer of 2006.
Eventually, Lucas would focus more on his non-musical business endeavors, leaving R-dot-P with little more than his name and songwriting capabilities to continue his dream. These capabilities emerged in the summer of 2011 with his street album "The Item" being available via Amazon, iTunes, and other sites in the United States as well as Deezer in France (a service not yet available in the States). That success would put him in his hometown newspaper's "Best of 2011" winning the "Best Local Rapper" award as well as being featured on numerous major sites including ThisIs50.com, HotNewHipHop.com, DatPiff.com, USDA2Day and various others. All that success would lead to R-dot-P linking back up with Just Us Ent. groupmate Frosty for the DJ Stop-n-Go (known for hosting for Soufboi, DJ Rell, DJ Tazmania, Supastar J. Kwik) hosted Racine's, "The Hennessy Freestyle Mixtape," gaining likewise acclaim throughout the Midwest.
Now, R-dot-P feels it is his time to expand his sound outside Racine, outside the Midwest, and become a national-no, GLOBAL brand. His songwriting capability stretches from pop/R&B ("Love That Walk") to hip-hop/and rap, and even within from the conscious "Money" and "So Confident" to the lyrical monster "My Rome" to the pain-filled "Let Me Go", it's obvious his skills seek no limit. Able to conquer any topic and tackle any-beat, R-dot-P already has the inner skills to make it in hip-hop...all he looks for at this point is major backing to make it official!
