THE FUTURE OF R&B: Christopher "Mavyn" Jones | ArtistPR

If you like fresh new styles of R&B mixed with a futuristic sound then you will definitely take a liking to this aspiring recording artist. This handsome, multi talented Chicago native is set to take this world by storm with his unorthodox & futuristic sounds of R&B. Christopher "Mavyn" Jones, the Chicago-bred military brat, was born in Fairbanks, Alaska and started singing at age six but didn't start pursuing a professional career until the age of ten. At the age of twelve, after moving around so much, his mom finally left the army and the Jones family moved to Atlanta, Georgia to start new lives. Mavyn attended Tri-Cities High School, School of the Performing Arts ( in East Point), where he took up vocal training in the choral management program to help mold his talent. Mavyn later attended Clark Atlanta University where he interned for Def Jam South Recordings, Major League Studios, Grand Hustle/Echo Studios & Hot Beats Recording Studios and learned the ins & outs of the music business, recording and engineering .

 

Mavyn also nicknamed "The Songbender" has produced, written & demoed songs for artists such as Brandy, Avant, Chris Brown, Rihanna & Jawan Harris. Mavyn is known for his ability to produce, songwrite, vocal arrange & engineer his own music, also provides a silky-smooth mixtures of a tenor voice, and not to mention signature riffs that compliments hard hitting tracks with unique kicks, snares & wild synths. He combines an extremely knowledgeable musical ear with raw but confident vocal dynamics that recalls a seasoning beyond his years. He's one of a handful of R&B artists today that actually knows how to do it all. "I listen to a lot of music, it doesn't matter whether it is old or new, and I don't rule anything out." he says about his influences that have brought him to an early musical maturity. 

 

After releasing his EP in 2013, Mavyn is set to take the world by storm currently working on his new R&B mixtape "The Last Songbender: Future Tape Vol. 1" slated for a summer release as well as simultaneously releasing a full length R&B album digitally. High responsible influences include: Timbaland, Kanye West, Boyz II Men, Brandy, 112, Usher, Michael Jackson, India Arie, Musiq, Stevie Wonder, and Kim Burrell just to name a few. Although his career goals are increasing everyday, Mavyn will still continue to focus on his first love, which is singing.
