Hip Hop Trio SEVEN Returns with 'Throwback'

Built by three lifelong friends and musical fanatics, SEVEN comes storming out of Albany, New York with a refreshing blast of old school, hardcore hip hop straight out of 1997. 16 years after the initial recording of Throwback, this group of versatile rappers is back and better than ever, ready to release their original material while hitting the studio to record a fresh series of fiery new tracks.
Founded in the mid-90s by Shawn Perry (DJ Sithe), Shirahn Cobb and Tommy Sturdivant (Boogie), each member brings their own musical background and influences to the table, formulating a dynamic hip hop rhyming machine. Taking a page from DJ, rap and soul legends such as The Jackson 5, DJ A.D., KRS-One, Run DMC, Rakim and more, each member latched on to hip hop at a young age. From rap battles on the Albany street corners to DJing by the age of 12, SEVEN was destined to become a reality.

Throwback sees the triumphant return of material recorded in 1997, but remained unpublished until now. Backed by their own Fresh Pack Records, this 5-track monster EP is finally seeing the light of day. In a time where hip hop has become diluted and disenfranchised, SEVEN is here to take the genre back to its roots, when the words and the music still meant something.
Following the record’s release, DJ Sithe, Shirahn and Boogie hit the studio to record their first new material in 16 years, dropping the thunderous new singles “No Tomorrow,” “Killa Tactics” and “Poetress and Me” via digital radio. Every bit as raw and in-your-face as their original material, their latest music picks up right where Throwback left off, seeing their seasoned, razor sharp rhyming skills take flight.
Throwback is available now via digital retailers such as CD Baby, with streaming audio up on their Jango radio page. Keep your eyes peeled for more singles on the horizon, as well as a local tour through their old stomping grounds in Albany and beyond.
