The Musical Story of Andrew J. Douglas
Andrew J. Douglas started playing music when he was just three years old. He played with his dad’s country band in 1955 at a military base in Japan. He played a snare drum while his dad played guitar and his dad’s friend played the upright bass. He then learned music theory when he started playing the banjo when he was twelve years old. Eight years later, he bought a Moog Sonic Six in 1972 and an Elka String machine in 1974 and played in a rock band call RAMA in Birmingham, Alabama ,USA during the 1970’s. The band played mostly covered tunes such as the Beatles, King Crimson, Moody Blues, Frank Zappa, ELP, etc. The band also created original music but broke up before they could produce an album. Andrew then sold his equipment when his daughter was born in 1977 to pay for her hospital bill.
Andrew dabbled in music through the 80s and 90s, mostly with one electronic piano and practicing classical music songs. Then in July 2001, he met another musician, Rick Bales, who played keyboards and met up with an old friend, Ray Whirlwind who played bass guitar and use to run RAMA sound system back in the 70s. Together, they formed the band Dreamwind. They produced seven CDs through 2001 – 2009. The band broke up in 2009 after losing their studio during the real estate crisis in 2009. Andrew built his own recording studio in 2011 and started recording music.
Andrew has a Yamaha DX-21, Korg Karma, Korg MS-2000 and Roland JP-8000. He recorded this CD in 2011 and 2012 and had it mastered and duplicated by CD Baby. And here he is -- 60 years old and still playing and creating music and still loving electronic music.
