Canadian Hard Rockers Lÿnx Unveil Their Retro Inspired Debut Self-Titled EP

Calgary, Alberta, Canada — Tuesday, May 25th, 2021 —

“Lÿnx” is the sizzling self-titled debut EP from Calgary-based glam rockers, produced by Bullzhorn Records in Canada.

Lÿnx is the self-titled debut 6 track EP from Calgary hard rockers of the same name. As a band formed during the Covid-19 pandemic, Lÿnx’s first project was written across a period of six months in 2020, chronicling the process of a band discovering their sound and cementing their direction without being able to extensively gig or tour together. The result is a blisteringly powerful six-track release that wears its love for 80s glam metal and hard rock on its sleeve, while remaining stunningly contemporary and up to date.

The songs are currently streaming on all major digital streaming platforms. Physical copies (CDs) are currently available in major record stores in Calgary, Canada and also on their official website.

“Canadian debut EP Lÿnx instantly takes you to the 80, by the sounds it evokes and the themes it contains. The shrimp spirit is well embodied, and you’ll have to see that they’re capable of an LP” – Confined Rock

“All in all, this is an excellent debut that was recorded in the most trying of circumstances and I am already looking forward to the first full-length Lÿnx album” – CGCM Rock Radio.

“This is a really solid, fun band that we’re excited about and can’t wait to hear what’s next. So crank it up and press play!”- Muzicnotez Magazine

With its soaring vocals, tongue-in-cheek lyrics and deliciously classic guitar solo, the opening track “Shout Out Loud” is a hilarious but powerful entry into the club of ‘I just can’t take it anymore’ anthems. The first collaboration between vocalist Lazer and guitarist Blade, the track tells the story of an everyman having a bad day who, in the face of his boss’ anger and girlfriend’s betrayal, escapes into rock and roll in a cathartic blaze of sound, fury and solidarity.

“It’s Time to Party” opens with a blend of rootsy, jangly guitars and classic hard rock vocals, a refreshingly unique aesthetic that only builds anticipation for a final explosion of the quintessential Lÿnx sound. Crashing drums, boundless vocals and a final no-holds-barred guitar solo, with an abrupt ending that will leave listeners wanting to rewind the tape (or hit repeat on Spotify) and relive the party all over again.

“Rock N Roll Tonight” is a bombastic and unapologetic chronicle of the highs and lows of a rockstar. Like a trashed hotel room or a car about to spin out of control, this track combines unbridled hedonism and distortion-dripping guitars with triumphant vocals and just the right level of upbeat self-awareness, ensuring that throughout the fun chaos the focus stays on what really matters: the music itself.

Lÿnx’s only power ballad, “Hold Me Tonight”, is a touching reminder of the price that comes with living a life on the road; leaving the ones you love behind. A tender ode to those who mean the most to the band, “Hold Me Tonight” combines heartbreakingly earnest vocals and glittering pianos to build to an epic, sweeping crescendo – one that showcases the enduring power of romantic, platonic and even familial love.

Closing track “That’s All I Want” subsumes listeners in the tumultuous pleasure- pain that comes with the end of a love-hate relationship. Beginning with an aggressive, driving riff and gravel-hard vocals that occasionally soften to let the smallest glint of sentimentality in, the track then transitions into an irresistibly sing-along chorus, designed to have listeners swinging their hair and stomping in time whether they can relate or not.

Having gained a reputation for their anthemic choruses, sizzling guitar solos and powerhouse vocals, Lÿnx have garnered a dedicated and eclectic international fan base. Eager to hit the stage and connect with audiences as soon as it is safe to do so, the band have in the meantime been working on a second EP, which aims to build on the momentum created by their debut and push their sound into even more extreme and rock and roll places.

Lÿnx is:

Lazer Wild – Vocals

Blade – Guitar, Vocals,

Fangs – Bass, Vocals

Flash – Drums & Percussions, Vocals

ABOUT

Lÿnx are an 80s-inspired hard rock / glam metal four-piece currently based in Calgary, Canada. Formerly known as Lazer Blade, the band was formed during the 2020 pandemic, beginning as a collaboration between vocalist Lazer and lead guitarist Blade. The pair were brought together by a serendipitous moment when both independently found themselves deviating from their preferred genres to listen to and fall in love with Lewis Capaldi’s song “Someone You Loved”. After Blade stumbled onto Lazer’s existing cover of the track they realized that a team-up was in order, and immediately hit the studio to release their own rendition of the song.

Met with glowing reviews for their unique take on the track, Lazer and Blade decided to turn their one-time collaboration into a long-term professional relationship, and brought bassist Fangs and drummer Flash on board to round out the band’s line-up. Connected by a shared love of 80s glam metal and hard rock, the four-piece immediately set about writing original songs that embody the style and swagger of the past, while embracing the polished production and down to Earth grit of their more modern rock influences.

Lÿnx released their first self-titled EP with 5 hard hitting originals and 1 cover of a radio popular song with Bullzhorn Records, Canada.

The songs are currently streaming on all major digital streaming platforms. Physical copies (CDs) are currently available in major record stores in Calgary, Canada and also on their official website www.lynxrocks.com
