'Blues Machine,' The Lightning Hall's Debut CD
"Blues Machine", The Lightning Hall's (Erik E. Knudson) debut CD has
been released widely on the internet. It contains twelve inspired,
contemporary acoustic folk-blues and Americana-tinged originals by an
artist with "impeccable guitar work and a soulful voice." Find it on

A native of the West and South-Southwest, Erik grew up in the Gulf Coast city of Galveston, Texas where he acquired a taste for southern music. He sings, plays acoustic guitar, dobro and harmonica as a soloist. He early on acquired a love of acoustic blues and writes and performs original songs influenced by "folk blues" and other styles. Mary Ann Brandon, of Bluesland Productions says "As a songwriter he tells stories of broken relationships, struggle and survival. He paints vivid portraits of the the lives of his characters with words." And he is no stranger to broken relationships, struggle and survival. That qualifies as blues, yes? He performs and plays guitar in spite of burn injuries to his hands he received when just eight years old in a brush fire in which his is brother and both parents were also severely injured.
Live he also performs the songs of traditional acoustic blues masters like Lightning Hopkins, Big Bill Broonzy and Muddy Waters, making them his own rather than slavishly copying them. His live musical performance has been described as "First rate" by Ken Saydak, a well known Chicago based bluesman who has worked with performers like Johnny Winter, and Otis Rush.
