Jim Martin and Beamchatter Records
Steeped in musical tradition, experience and a literal who’s
who of blues and rock influences is Austin, Texas’ Jim Martin, making his
presence known as a lasting figure in the local scene. Getting his start as a
well-known and respected leader in the Austin garage band scene, he gigged his
way around the state throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s with a wide variety of
musicians. After setting out on his own, Martin has written, recorded and
produced eight original records, including his latest release Got No Blues.
Influenced by musical legends such as The Beatles, CCR,
Freddie King and Louie Armstrong, Martin built up a diverse songwriting
sensibility, ranging from blues and rock to jazz and country. He studied jazz
at the University of Texas, giving him a technical, rock-solid sound which
comes through crystal clear on nearly each and every song. With over 40 years’
experience as a session guitar player and pianist among musicians from across
Texas, he hit the solo market in 2008, devoting all of his time to starting a
record label while recording and self-promoting his laid back brand of
bluesy-rock.
After founding Beamchatter Records, Martin developed an
effective outlet for producing and releasing his self-made albums, which
currently frequent digital retailers such as iTunes, Amazon, MySpace Music,
eMusic and many more. Thousands of people have discovered his toe-tapping
instrumental jazzy blues through Jango Radio, as tracks continue to pile up
hits as the days go by.
Fall 2012 saw the release of Martin’s eighth record, Got No Blues via digital media outlets
and online stores. Featuring seven more installments in his trademark old
school, no-frills blues, the album is another permanent mark on the Austin
local music scene. Handling everything from writing catchy hooks and
head-bobbing piano melodies to high-quality recording and media distribution,
Martin has proven himself to be a talented, self-sufficient songwriter capable
of every aspect within the music business.
Got No Blues,
along with other Jim Martin albums are available for purchase through iTunes,
Amazon, eMusic and other digital retailers. Songs from three of his records can
be streamed on the official Beamchatter Records website or Jango Radio.
