Adam Myles Carty Goes Solo
Edmonton’s Adam Myles Carty is branching out on his own in 2011, making the leap into the solo artist world to bring his unique musical vision to life. As a multifaceted musician and songwriter, Carty has years of experience under his belt playing guitar with bands throughout Alberta, Canada, giving him the chops to piece together his debut EP.
A self-taught guitarist, Carty was enamored with punk and power chords in his early years, covering songs by alternative kings such as Nirvana and Green Day. He quickly made the next leap into more complex and imaginative music, diving head first into classic rock and pop, spinning records from guitar driven legends like Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. With a list of influences that includes everything from Guns ‘N Roses to Michael Jackson, Carty’s eclectic style bleeds through into his music, generating a sound which is truly his own.
Taking over seems to come naturally to the burgeoning Canadian artist, who handled guitar, bass, keyboard, percussion, and vocal duty on his new record, recording the entire piece at a home studio. As a student of music theory and recording engineering, Carty learned everything necessary to produce his own record exactly as it existed in his imagination. After mastering the project at Edmonton’s prominent Power Sound Studios, the EP is finally ready for the world to experience, containing a collection of tracks dripping with alternative influence, distorted guitars, and creative vocal tones.
While Carty has plenty of experience playing Alberta venues such as On the Rocks, Urban Lounge, and Jet Nightclub with his previous groups, this latest endeavor hasn’t quite seen the light of day just yet. The one man band has made this his next goal, attempting to assemble the ideal live band to perform his latest and greatest creations for fans across Canada and beyond. With an explosive musical formula which blends rock, pop, and alternative into an exciting and complete product, Carty’s solo material is sure to translate perfectly to the stage.
Songs are available to stream online through his official MySpace page, along with photos, news, and more. With the first EP already in the books and available for purchase from iTunes and eMusic, fans should expect even more music and possible tour dates within the near future. The sun is shining on a brand new day for Carty, and this certainly won’t be the last we hear from Edmonton’s next breakout artist.
