Artist Interview: Ralph Pezzullo

Artist Interview: Ralph Pezzullo

Tell us about yourself and your music

I’ve been playing music for a while. I started as a teenager in Bogota, Colombia where I was a member of the seminal band Wallflower Complexion. Since then I’ve continued playing music while raising a family and writing bestselling books. Recently, I’ve been performing and writing music. I feel as though I’ve found my voice as a songwriter.

Talk to us more about your latest release

I’ve recently released the first series of five songs. I’m featuring Surrender To – a song I’m particularly proud of which I feel is funky and personal at the same time. It gets a great reaction when played live.

What inspired you to write this release?

It just sort of came to me one night as I was playing around with my guitar. It captures what I was feeling at the time.

Any plans to release a video?

Not at this time.

Any plans to hit the road?

I’ll be playing with my band FUNKY G at TRIP in Santa Monica on March 18th.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

I think I have a unique sound that is informed my many influences. All my music comes from the heart, has something to say, creates a particular mood, and moves!

Who have you been listening to lately?

Radiohead, John Prine, Curtis Mayfield.

Tell us about your passions

I’m also a New York Times-bestselling author of over a dozen books. I love all forms of art.

What else is happening next in your world?

I’m writing more songs, performing more songs, writing books, and enjoying life.

Thanks for an awesome interview, Ralph!
