Artist Interview: Paul Malysa

Tell us about yourself and your music

Paul Malysa is both soulful and personal. As a songwriter he is known to compose emotionally charged music and his honest and genuine performance style has overwhelmed and charmed audiences everywhere.

He is a member of NSAI, SAC, CMAO, and on the committee for Tin Pan North. He was also a finalist in the Eco Arts Awards and 3 of his songs were featured in a film Best International Award of Excellence in Los Angeles. This year he just received The Akademia Music Award in L.A.for his song that he co-wrote with John Christensen “Knelt Down and Prayed” for best Christian/Ballad.

Last year Paul performed at the Legendary Blue Bird Café in Nashville, and has been invited back for the 5th straight year to perform at CMA Fest. Paul also hosts songwriter’s nights in his home studio and selected songwriter’s nights are now being syndicated on Dave Woods show “In the Country”.

Paul has just released his 3rd Cd “I’m Country in the City” on the Squirrel Head Music’s label and his music is available on itunes, youtube, rdr music, reverbnation, indiepool www.paulmalysa.com and www.squirrelheadmusic.com

Paul has performed across Canada and the US. Locally has performed at Nathan Phillips Square, The Legendary El Mocambo, Cadillac Lounge, Tin Pan North and so many music festivals. “Ten Days in Paradise” is a song that Paul performs from his 3rd Cd that leaves the audience singing the chorus over and over again in their heads.

Talk to us more about your latest release

My new Cd I’m Country in the City” has been released to radio in Canada and the US. “Home Cookin” has just been released in the US and Europe

 

 

What inspired you to write this release?

It was one of those songs that everyone said “catchy”… love it. So I decided to release it.

Any plans to release a video?

Video of the title track is done.

 

 

Any plans to hit the road?

Not yet.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

It’s simple. Make every song be different. No one wants to hear an artist sounding the same or everysong having the same chord structure.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Love the Highway. Sometimes I even go to old classic rock tunes. They inspire me.

Tell us about your passions

I love life. I love my family. I love my wife. and of course nothing like a great cup of coffee to start the day… LOL.

 

What else is happening next in your world?

Looking at my next CD project with different artists on ever song. Call it “Friends”
